Steve Saunderson
Steve Saunderson is the Captain of the 2nd XI this season and is credited with writting the questions for these interviews. It seems only fitting he should be one of the first to answer them.
What year did you join the Club and what or who made you join?
I joined the club in May 2007, I joined because I worked with Andy 'Asbo' Addison and he kept moaning that they were short on players!
What type of player would you consider yourself?
A bit of an all or nothing player. Sometimes I come off, sometimes I don't. Always give 100% though.
What is the funniest moment you have experienced on or off the field while at the club?
The club isn't short of funny moments, but mine has to be Craig Williams on tour. Having his kit off more than having it on!
What is your aim for the new season?
As a captain for the team to improve on its position last year, I'll settle for a duck every week personally if it means we win!
Who is the best player you have played with at the club?
Martin Doran, No question.
Whats your favourite thing about New Victoria?
The atmosphere around the club, the banter and the people within the club.
What has been your favourite tour so far and why?
Lithuania probably. Just because the clubs were open until later and I didn't have to share a double bed with Craig!
What is your nickname?
Saundo.
What is your finest moment as a player?
Ha. Scoring 96 against Chorley last year, before running myself out four short of a century.... Much to the lads in the pubs pleasure!
Where do you see New Victoria in 5 years time?
Hopefully with a couple of trophies under our belt, the first team in the first division and the second team in atleast division 3.
Six Hitter or Crease Sitter?
Definitely not a crease sitter!
What is your best fielding position?
Some would say I don't have one! I think probably gully.
Who, in your opinion is the best cricketer you have faced?
In terms of talent the young lad who opens for Rufford and smashes it everywhere.
What is your favourite on the field moment not involving yourself?
Their are 2 really, seeing Andy Addison and Martin Doran both getting their first centuries.
Who do you think is the biggest prospect at the club?
Theirs a good few, like Matty Howard and Kieran Rigby. But I think at the moment Adam Large looks like he is going to be a great player in the future.
Who is the team you enjoy beating most?
Goose Green, No question.
Finally, Is their a message you would like to send to your clubmates?
Just that I hope we all continue to enjoy ourselves as much as we are now and continue to improve as a club.
