Christopher Hames
What year did you join the Club and what or who made you join?
2002 - Uncle Peter.
What type of player would you consider yourself?
'Medium' pace bowler, with an ever increasing mix of intentional and unintentional slower balls. Would benefit from a 'first over of a spell doesn't count rule'. Once a defensive batsmen, have tried to adopt a more attacking mindset to combat the problem of leaving non-deviating straight balls.
What is the funniest moment you have experienced on or off the field while at the club?
The whole team laughing after the 8th catch went down against Sklem (I think), and the look on umpires and batsmen faces as we struggled to stop laughing for the next ball.
What is your aim for the new season?
Don't leave straight ones, and help get us promoted.
Who is the best player you have played with at the club?
Peter Hames. He said he used to be really good anyway.
What's your favourite thing about New Victoria?
As Paul's answer.
What has been your favourite tour so far and why?
Darwen's the furthest I've been. Though it was worth it to see that quicky get Baz out
..
What is your nickname?
Chris.
What is your finest moment as a player?
Scoring 250 not out against Winstanley in 2005. Though batting with Uncle Peter, where 3's became 1's and 1's became dots, it went down in the book as 52 not out.
Where do you see New Victoria in 5 years time?
The Shrimper
Six Hitter or Crease Sitter?
See answer 1.
What is your best fielding position?
Gully or slip.
Who, in your opinion is the best cricketer you have faced?
James Foster (England wkt / Essex Captain) - amongst a number of county players at Durham Uni Academy nets (I took up the offer for 'anyone to attend'). After completing the attendance form with a non-county playing mate (Name - Club), proudly entering the New Vic club name next to 20 county clubs, I realised I probably wasn't going to enjoy the following 2 hours. Difficult to decide which of the bowlers were best due to the non-seeing of the majority of balls faced.
What is your favourite on the field moment not involving yourself?
Standing at slip with our Paul and both having to stop the bowler running in because we were laughing at Uncle Peter's fall backwards off a bench at Hesketh Bank.
Who do you think is the biggest prospect at the club?
Both Howards and Fozzy. Young Howards that is
..
Who is the team you enjoy beating most?
Churchtown.
Finally, Is their a message you would like to send to your club mates?
Do you have to toss up again if there's been a rain delay?
